Description
NYPL's comprehensive Yiddish theater collection includes hundreds of manuscripts, photographs, oral histories, posters, playbills, books, periodicals, and sheet music, comprising one of the largest Yiddish theater collections in the world. The collection's theater posters and placards are primarily centered on New York City and Buenos Aires, dating from as early as the late 19th century. Prominent names in Yiddish Theater featured in the collection include Boris and Bessie Thomashefsky, Bertha Kalich, Sophia Carp, Rudolph Marks, Max Rosenthal, and David Kessler.
